MOC - Lewa Marama - My Tribute To Bionicle MOCing by Alex-Darkrai MOC - Lewa Marama - My Tribute To Bionicle MOCing by Alex-Darkrai
This MOC started off as a way to show off the new special colored nuva chest armor, which I got from bricklink. Further information can be found within the description of this deviation.

After some playing around with the parts, I came up with the idea of using the trans-neon green Miru, which I got from bricklink as well, some time ago.
Then the development of this MOC went further and further.
I wanted trans-neon green to be a main color of this MOC, but green as well, in order to present the Miru and the chest armor in the best possible way.
Slowly, I included more and more parts. I wanted to keep a usual Toa Mata structure, he even still has the functions of a normal Toa, but I also wanted to give him better shapes than the original Toa Mata. Using the basic look of the Toa Nuva armor helped greatly. Using the glatorian heads for the shoulders and the Av-Matoran heads for the lower legs helped the color scheme and the shapes and are kinda a symbol for the smaller sets of the bionicle world.
Using the Slizer foot on the lower body is a look back to the first day and the ancestors of the bionicle, while the use of Hero Factory armor on the arms and feet is a look to the future after bionicle.
Including parts like the half sphere for the back of the head and the parts his swords are made off, intends to show the various ways of using non-bionicle parts for Bionicle MOCing and still making it look bionicle-like. This is also supported by the single stud plate part within his chest armor, the core of lego; the stud.
Using tran-neon green as main color symbolises the transcendence between different generations of parts, showing that you can create MOCs with parts from any generation.
Lastly, I chose to give him the name (and look) of Lewa, because, even if Tahu was the leader, as set Lewa has been my first bionicle I ever had and I heard the same from many other guys who love bionicle as well.
For me, Lewa does mean more to me than Tahu ;)

Hopefully this whole text wasn't to philosophic for you guys xD
I just really wanted a to create a MOC which shows my devotion to MOCing and my private history with it :)

My first Bionicle was also Lewa. His mask looked like the cursed mask that follows you from Super Mario Bros. 2. Once the Toa Nuva set was released, had to get him first. Years later I was SO hyped to see him in (as far as I know) the finale of the Phantoka chapter chasing after whoever on those flying vehicles. I never got another comic after that cliffhanger. I wish I knew what happened to that quick-speaking high-flyer.

I was always a fan of the bionicle sets, for me they were like revolution in lego when they came out. Combined with technic parts, it was so easy to build quite original figures.
At some point I stopped collecting, because I was busy with school. I started building again later on and recolected most of the newer parts through ebay and bricklink ^^

My first was Kopaka. I actually never really liked Lewa that much because I was little at the time that I got him, and my mom had promised to get it for me if I was good that week, but instead I got my grandma to get it for me. I got in a bit of trouble over it and felt guilty, so there were some negative feelings attached to Lewa for a while. XD

This, however, looks hella cool.

Would it be possible for you to come up with a whole series of Toa Mata remakes like this one? That would be awesome!

No probably not. I'd have to keep trans-parts-theme up, but there aren't as many different colored trans parts to build every Toa, or at least it would insanely difficult ... and Gali somehow already is a little trans-like looking so the theme would work with her as good as with other Toa :/

My first Bionicle model was the tiger rahi, and I immediately pestered my parents for more.
